Terribly... awesome !

If it's any consolation, pro-drifter and super GT racer Keiichi Tusychia consulted the show on realism for both the culture and the physics. The AE86 is based off his actual car, neither of which were anywhere close to stock. So while the quality is bad, at least the concepts are somewhat solid.

Duct tape. It was a match for FWD vs RWD, and you can't do hand-over-hand countersteer if your hand is duct taped to the wheel, the civic driver coaxed the corolla driver into it.

Right. Shingo (the guy in the Civic) is a slimy bastard and picked that condition for the race because it's easier to corner a FF with limited steering input compared to a FR. He didn't take into account that Takumi (the 86 driver) is made completely out of Deus Ex Machina.
